HOW IT WORKS
- Go to Zip/County Update (Other> Edit Lists more)
- There will be a drop down to select what you want to update: State, County, County FIPS and Zip Code
- Go through each one and update the lists (as needed) for each state
What if I changed the county name in my database?
The functionality does not compare text to find similar matches and replace one with another so we would advise you to review the results before adding new records to prevent duplicate records.
If you choose to import the new county, we recommend changing the status of the old county to inactive to avoid duplication.
Alternatively, you can edit the county, change the name to match, perform the zip updates to identify any missing zip codes. Following this exercise, you can modify the name of your county.

- For example, if your Database had De Soto and the list has Desoto it will not recognize the record and it will suggest importing a new county.
- Example 2, if your database has County of Hillsborough and the list has Hillsborough it will not recognize the record and it will suggest importing as a new county.

Do I need to go to the County/Zip table in Edit Lists and link them together once I’ve updated the new counties and/or the zip codes?
No, the records will already be associated.

Do I need to update FIPS?
No, you can import the lists individually so it would be considered optional. We recognize that most people do not use FIPS in their system, but it may be important for some integrations. If you want to update FIPS, it only includes those that have a match on State & County.

Can I update multiple states at a time?
No, you must select lists one state at a time.
No, you must select lists one state at a time.
Can I use this feature to add a new state?
The state filter will list any that are missing in the database but won’t allow for adding them. You must add them manually. Once you manually add a state, the rest of the updates can be used to load the counties, zips, etc.
The state filter will allow All for State and County options only, otherwise must do it by State.
