Remote Online Notarization (RON) is currently allowed in every state except California (for now). Driven by the pandemic, lawmakers across the nation are acutely aware of the need to provide purchasers and sellers more flexibility in the closing process, however, each one is taking a different approach to the solution. It is important to note an agent can only perform a RON while physically located in the state where they hold a commission. Agents may not perform a RON while located out of the state where they have been commissioned. For your reference, we've provided a brief description of each state's RON bill/law/order. Click on the state of interest for descriptions and special notes. Alabama
